Provisioning OSS for Telcos and ISPs

POPMaster

"ISP Edition"

POPMaster™ is system designed to provision and administer users and services, oriented to ISPs and Telcos that provides Internet Access, dialup, ADSL or WiFi.

POPMaster™ managed access servers, host servers, software and services servers and routers in TCP/IP networks. With POPMaster™ you can:

  • Automatically create, modify or delete email and SSH users account. Sign up on-line via web browser trough Internet or via a preconfigured Easy Access Kit.
  • Automatic configuration and installation of multiconcurrent Radius user profile over the internet servers and router filtering set up.
  • Allow the ISP or extranet user change the user password via web with a secure procedure.
  • Flexible definition of all Internet service by flat rate, by time, by traffic and/or windows time frame. Full marketing and commercial user definition on line database. Complete integration with our POPHelp System for on line customer care.
  • Rate, track and build the billing record based on configurable tariff by time and/or traffic. Export Data on line or off line to any invoicing system.
  • Logical definition of user group for billing purpose. Inbound, reseller and franchising user management. Remote Point Of Presence administration.
  • Exceptional Internet user service definition based on access types, i.e.: full internet, only email, only web, and/or any combination of such services. Email aliases administration.
  • Encrypted auditorial track of all event realized by the POPMaster™. Administration trough different access level with encrypted operational log in track.

POPMaster™ allow the ISP and Extranet administrator know exactly how many active and historical users are in the system, the right service configuration, included the access and the exact rate, track, invoicing and billing of any TCP/IP network with centralized POP or multi POP structure.

POPMaster™ manages automatically, due to their own database, the relationships between the following objects:

  • routers
  • servers
  • users
  • services
  • rates

Each one of these objects have their own attributes, which are definables by the operator at the configuration time, and may be altered at any time. When POPMaster™ was configured, it administer and controls automatically all attributes related with such objects: time-metered and traffic-metered rates, full/partial Internet access, access filters, automatic generation and installation of configuration files, etc. In the special case of the user database, exist an optional module that is an interface between POPMaster™ and the most popular database engines: Informix, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL.

POPMaster™ runs under the following OS:

  • Solaris (x86/SPARC)
  • Linux
  • Windows 2003.

It’s possible mantain another OS in the same scheme, if such servers does not running services that POPMaster™ need to administer (such as news servers, proxies, chat, etc).

Standard GUI: the interface is simply a web browser no maintenance/learning is needed. Furthermore, is not necessary the "navigation", because POPMaster™ presents in only one frame-based screen all posibilities.

  • Restricted access: the manager of the ISP or extranet decides who, how and when access to POPMaster™, based on a "login" scheme.
  • Encrypted auditing of POPMaster™ events: all modules register the actions in a common log, encrypted and only accesible by the owner of the key. Such auditing is optional, in a separate module.
  • Security: POPMaster™ makes use of the native security scheme of UNIX systems: permissions by user, encrypted keys, power-user utilization only when needed, etc. By the other hand, the communication between the POPMaster™ and the slaves accross the extranet is encrypted, thus enabling the choice of administer remote sites in a secure way.
  • Complexity reduction: POPMaster™ turns easy the administration of distributed UNIX environments, because the POPMaster™ master-slave combination will do the more complex operationes, normally reserved for sysadmins with a large experience in these topics. The automatic generation/installation of the configurations files is the following list:
  • Radius configuration files
  • Creation/modification/deletion of POP3/SSH accounts
  • Password maintenance
  • Access filters ready to install in the access-servers
  • DNS tables
  • E-mail aliases

Apart of the platform, POPMaster™ runs under a web server, so the server choosed for run POPMaster™ will need also a web server.

The interface is simply a web browser capable of understand Javascript.
